Custom Air began business in 1972 as Ralph Cress Customized Heating and Cooling. Founded by Ralph Cress, a long time sales engineer with the famed Williamson Heating and Air Conditioning Company of Cincinnati, the company developed a reputation for excellent workmanship and design efficiency.

Ralph Cress was followed in the business by his son Jim in 1980. The company name was then altered to reflect that change, to Cress Customized Heating and Cooling.

Don Bowen joined the company in 1987 and the name was again changed, this time to Custom Air. Don left the company in 2003. Monte Cress, the third generation of the Cress family to work for the business, joined its ranks in 2000. Today, Jim Cress serves as President and principal owner of the company.

The company's headquarters in downtown Danville, Kentucky, adjacent to Centre College, is an ideal location from which to serve regional clientele in Boyle, Mercer, Garrard, Washington and Lincoln Counties.
